About the Author
Wayne van Zwoll is a full-time journalist for the outdoors press and has published more than 2,500 articles and thousands of photos in magazines such as Outdoor Life, Field & Stream, Sports Afield, Sporting Classics, Safari, Fair Chase, and African Hunting Gazette. Now in its thirty-second year, his "Rifles and Cartridges" column in the Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation's Bugle is the publication's longest running feature. His other columns appear in Guns, GameTrails, Buckmasters, Wild Sheep, and Predator Xtreme. He has published sixteen books on hunting and shooting. A former hunting guide, he conducts safaris in Namibia in a program to introduce women to big-game hunting. His competitive rifle shooting has brought him two state titles. He is a professional member of the Boone and Crockett Club and a board member of the Jack O'Connor Center. Van Zwoll earned a doctorate in wildlife policy from Utah State University, where he also taught creative writing. He currently lives in north-central Washington.
