You have a choice this Advent: Get caught up in the annual rush of shopping, decorating, and parties or slow down and take a few minutes each day to remember who this season is really about—Jesus.

In Adore, popular author and speaker Fr. John Burns and illustrator Valerie Delgado of Pax.Valerie will help you reclaim the sacred sense of longing and joyful hope at the heart of Advent, focusing on a new theme each week—vigilance, preparation, nearness, and Emmanuel—that you can relate to your own life.

Each day you’ll journey deeper into the meaning of Advent with:

  • a scripture- and liturgy-based meditation,
  • stunning art specially created for this book,
  • reflection questions,
  • a prayer, and
  • journaling space.

Adore is perfect for both individual and group use.

An imprimatur for Adore was granted by Bishop Kevin C. Rhoades of the Diocese of Fort Wayne-South Bend in 2021.

What People are Saying About This

From the Publisher

“Through these uniquely beautiful reflections from Fr. John Burns, you will encounter the quiet, safety, and rest of the hearts of Mary and Joseph, joining in their preparation for the birth of our Savior. You are warmly invited on the journey.” —Sr. Miriam James Heidland, S.O.L.T.

“Like many others, I often have big spiritual goals and plans for Advent that are all too easily overwhelmed by the hustle and bustle of the holidays. Fr. John Burns has given us a wonderful remedy—a real gift to help us daily refocus our gaze upon Christ. Rich in reflection and beautifully illustrated, this book will be of immense help in making Advent the time of spiritual renewal we so desperately desire it to be!” —Sarah Swafford, author of Emotional Virtue

“While many people celebrate Christmas each year, the busyness of the season tends to distract us from where our attention really ought to be: the mystery of the Incarnation. This collection of daily Advent meditations, journal questions, and prayers will help you not only find the focus you need to prepare for the coming solemnity, but also see and worship the living God who is present in our midst." —Fr. Casey Cole, O.F.M., creator and host of Breaking In The Habit on YouTube
