Deprin, Kristi: - Kristi got the idea for this book while traveling the Camino de Santiago in Spain. She and her husband discovered many bookstores on their long walk. When they found a picture book they loved, they added it to one of their backpacks. As their backpacks got heavier, they got stronger, and the inspiration for A Heart in the Sand grew. Now Kristi works at Kaiser Permanente writing and acting in plays about children's health, and she teaches an after school Spanish class with Left Coast Power Yoga.
