She has an MFA in Writing for Children and Young Adults from Vermont College of Fine Arts, and moonlights in the film and television industry. Denise Shimabukuro is a freelance children’s storybook illustrator, specializing in studio-based projects. Her experience also includes character design for TV animation, as well as 10 years illustrating on staff for Disney Publishing Worldwide. Denise now resides with her husband in Milan, Italy.
